Is DualSenseX v1.4.9 still safe to use in 2026?

Yes. While the developer has moved to the Steam version (v3), the original v1.4.9 open-source release remains fully functional for Windows 10 and 11. It provides the essential Adaptive Trigger and Xbox emulation features without any subscription or cost.

How do I fix the “Double Input” issue?

Double input occurs when a game detects both the “Virtual Xbox” controller and your “Real PS5” controller simultaneously. To fix this, you should install HidHide and use it to hide the Wireless Controller, leaving only the emulated controller visible to games.

Do Adaptive Triggers work over Bluetooth?

In the free v1.4.9 version, Adaptive Triggers work over Bluetooth, but Haptic Feedback (Audio-based vibration) usually requires a USB connection due to Windows Bluetooth bandwidth limitations. The Steam v3 version offers experimental fixes for this via custom drivers.

Why is my controller not being detected by DSX?

This is most commonly caused by missing ViGEmBus drivers or an outdated .NET Runtime. Ensure you have installed all prerequisites from our download page and restart your PC after installation.

Virtual Controller Failure

Root Cause: The kernel-level driver responsible for Xbox 360 emulation is missing or blocked by Core Isolation.
Fix: Re-install ViGEmBus and ensure “Memory Integrity” in Windows Security isn’t blocking the driver.

Double Input / Ghosting

Root Cause: HidHide is installed but hasn’t “Whitelisted” DualSenseX.exe.
Fix: Open HidHide Configuration, go to the Applications tab, and add DSX.exe to the allowed list to prevent input lag.

Haptic Feedback Silent

Root Cause: Windows is using the Controller’s speaker as the default output, blocking DSX audio-to-haptics.
Fix: Set your Headphones/Speakers as “Default Playback Device” in Sound Settings, not the Wireless Controller.
