Frequently Asked Questions
Quick solutions to the most common issues players encounter when setting up DualSenseX on PC.
Is DualSenseX v1.4.9 still safe to use in 2026?
Yes. While the developer has moved to the Steam version (v3), the original v1.4.9 open-source release remains fully functional for Windows 10 and 11. It provides the essential Adaptive Trigger and Xbox emulation features without any subscription or cost.
How do I fix the “Double Input” issue?
Double input occurs when a game detects both the “Virtual Xbox” controller and your “Real PS5” controller simultaneously. To fix this, you should install HidHide and use it to hide the Wireless Controller, leaving only the emulated controller visible to games.
Do Adaptive Triggers work over Bluetooth?
In the free v1.4.9 version, Adaptive Triggers work over Bluetooth, but Haptic Feedback (Audio-based vibration) usually requires a USB connection due to Windows Bluetooth bandwidth limitations. The Steam v3 version offers experimental fixes for this via custom drivers.
Why is my controller not being detected by DSX?
This is most commonly caused by missing ViGEmBus drivers or an outdated .NET Runtime. Ensure you have installed all prerequisites from our download page and restart your PC after installation.

- Touchpad Gestures: Map swipes and clicks to keyboard macros or mouse actions.
Standardize your pro-performance across all platforms.
Why DualSenseX over DS4Windows?
Native Haptic Engine
While DS4Windows is legendary for PS4 controllers, DualSenseX is built from the ground up for PS5 hardware, offering superior adaptive trigger emulation that DS4Windows lacks by default.
Official Sony App Limitations
The official Sony “Firmware updater” and basic Windows drivers don’t allow for remapping or Xbox emulation. DualSenseX unlocks these “hidden” features for 100% game compatibility.
Audio-to-Haptics Conversion
DualSenseX (DSX) can listen to your game’s audio and convert it into real-time rumble, making even indie games feel like PS5 exclusives.
Technical Troubleshooting
Encountering an issue? Most DualSenseX errors are related to driver conflicts. Here is how to interpret the logs and fix common error codes.
ERROR: ViGEmBus Not Found
Virtual Controller Failure
Root Cause: The kernel-level driver responsible for Xbox 360 emulation is missing or blocked by Core Isolation.
Fix: Re-install ViGEmBus and ensure “Memory Integrity” in Windows Security isn’t blocking the driver.
LOG: HID Guard Ignored
Double Input / Ghosting
Root Cause: HidHide is installed but hasn’t “Whitelisted” DualSenseX.exe.
Fix: Open HidHide Configuration, go to the Applications tab, and add DSX.exe to the allowed list to prevent input lag.
STATUS: Audio Device Busy
Haptic Feedback Silent
Root Cause: Windows is using the Controller’s speaker as the default output, blocking DSX audio-to-haptics.
Fix: Set your Headphones/Speakers as “Default Playback Device” in Sound Settings, not the Wireless Controller.
Pro Tip: Always run DualSenseX as Administrator to ensure the software has sufficient permissions to modify trigger states and emulate virtual hardware.

Unlock the full potential of your PS5 hardware on Windows 10/11.
Better Together: Official App + DSX
Don’t choose between them—use them together. While Sony’s official app handles Firmware Updates, DualSenseX (DSX) unlocks the hardware features that Sony restricts on Windows.
- [Sony App] Updates internal MCU for better Bluetooth stability.
- [DualSenseX] Forces Adaptive Triggers in non-supported games (e.g. Forza, Starfield).
- [DualSenseX] Converts game audio to Haptic vibrations in real-time.
Maximize Your Controller Battery Life
LED Brightness Control
Reducing the Lightbar brightness to “Dim” via DSX can extend battery life by up to 15% during long sessions.
Auto-Power Off
Set a timer in DualSenseX to automatically shut down the controller after 10 minutes of inactivity to prevent drainage.
Haptic Intensity Caps
Limiting maximum vibration strength for “Audio-to-Haptics” significantly reduces power consumption of the actuator motors.
Note: Battery level reporting in Windows can be inaccurate; DSX provides a more precise percentage via direct HID requests.
Download from Our Secure Mirror
Every file in our download center is scanned for safety and includes the required ViGEmBus drivers to ensure a smooth one-click installation.
Windows 10 vs. Windows 11
DualSenseX is optimized for the latest Windows builds. See how the experience differs across operating systems.
| Feature / Compatibility | Windows 10 | Windows 11 (2026 Ready) |
|---|---|---|
| Adaptive Triggers (USB) | Full Support | Full Support |
| Adaptive Triggers (Bluetooth) | Partial (Stable) | Optimized (BT 5.1+) |
| Haptic Feedback (Audio-based) | Manual Setup Required | Auto-Detection (WSA Ready) |
| Input Latency | Standard (~3-4ms) | Ultra-Low (~1.2ms) |
| Core Isolation Compatibility | High | Requires Signed Driver |
| UI Theme Integration | Basic | Mica / Fluent Support |
Note for Windows 11 Users: Due to the Memory Integrity (HVCI) feature in Windows 11, you may need to ensure your ViGEmBus driver is updated to version 1.21 or higher to avoid “Driver Blocked” errors. DualSenseX v1.4.9 is fully compatible with the latest Windows 11 24H2 builds.
Beyond Windows Gaming
DualSenseX (v1.4.9) is a native Windows application. However, Steam Deck and Linux users can still enjoy advanced haptics and trigger features through specific kernel-level tools and Steam’s native integration.
Pro Tip: For Steam Deck, native Steam Input provides basic Adaptive Trigger support in “Desktop Mode.”
DualSense1 (Linux Alternative)
For Linux distros (Ubuntu, Arch, Fedora), use the DualSense1 project on GitHub. It mirrors many of DSX’s features like RGB control and trigger modes via a Python-based UI.
Steam Game Mode Optimization
On SteamOS, most Adaptive Trigger features are now being integrated into Steam Input. Enable “PlayStation Configuration Support” in Settings for the best out-of-the-box experience.
Performance on Deck
Running DualSenseX through Proton is not recommended as it requires kernel-level drivers (ViGEmBus) which are incompatible with the Wine translation layer.
